January 27, 2018

Cherokee County Fire & Emergency Services responded to a vehicle in a retention pond located at 399 North Point Parkway, located off Highway 92, near I -75, yesterday afternoon shortly before 6PM.

Firefighters arrived on the scene to find a black Chevrolet SUV in the pond.  According to Battalion Chief, Ricky Collett, “The Dive Team was called out for the recovery of the vehicle.  Initial dispatch reported that the driver was standing on the roof of the vehicle, and swam to shore before the fire department's arrival.”

Dive team members arrived on scene, suited up, went into the pond and hook cables from a wrecker to pull the vehicle out.

No injuries were reported and the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a cause to the accident.
