Cherokee County Fire and Emergency Services responded to a two vehicle accident this afternoon, at approximately 12:30, at the northbound ramp of 1-575 at Howell Bridge Road near Ball Ground.

When emergency service personnel arrived on the scene, they found a concrete truck and a Ford Windstar van had collided.  The driver of the concrete truck, a 46 year old male, had to be extricated from the vehicle.  He was complaining of pain in his back, neck and left knee.  The patient was later transported by ambulance to Kennestone Hospital in Marietta.  The driver of the Ford Windstar, a 51 year old female, was complaining of neck and back pain and was later transported by ambulance to Northside Cherokee Hospital.

The northbound ramp at Howell Bridge Road was closed until the vehicles were removed.  All fire and emergency units were back in service approximately an hour later.  The cause of the accident is being investigated by the Georgia State Patrol.
