Late Morning Fire Destroys Home Near Waleska

Firefighters arrived on scene to find heavy smoke and flames coming from the structure.

Cherokee County Fire and Emergency Services responded to a structure fire this morning at 154 Dry Pond Lane, off Highway 108, just east of Waleska.

Firefighters received the call at approximately 11:15 this morning and when they arrived on scene, they found heavy black smoke and flames coming from the roof of the structure. The house was totally destroyed by the fire, however, no injuries were reported. The occupants of the house were not at home at the time of the fire.

Portions of Dry Pond Lane were blocked until the operation was complete. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.

Cherokee County Fire and Emergency Services received the call just shortly after 11:15 this morning.

The fire destroyed the home on Dry Pond Lane.

Cherokee County firefighters continue to put water on the home to keep the fire from spreading.
