Cherokee County Fire and Emergency Services and the City of Canton Fire Department responded to an accident this afternoon, shortly after 3 o’clock, on the Marietta Highway Bridge at exit 14, between Holly Springs and south Canton.

Firefighters arrived on the scene to find two automobiles and a pick-up truck involved in the accident.  The 30 year old female driver of a red Honda was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident. 

The 33 year old female driver of the black Chevrolet truck and a 53 year old female passenger in the front seat had minor injuries. Three children in the back seat, a 12 year old boy and two girls, ages 7 and 4, had non life threatening injuries and were taken by ambulance to Scottish Rite Hospital in Atlanta.

The 68 year old male driver of a white Buick had cuts to his head and was transported to Kennestone Hospital in stable condition.

Both lanes of Marietta Highway were blocked until the clean-up operation was complete.  The cause of the accident is currently being investigated by the Canton Police Department.
